Since 2001, Colleen Beth has been teaching privately and actively involved with music education programs. Her viola, violin, cello, and piano students have ranged from ages 5 to adult, beginner to advanced. Several of Colleen's former students have pursued degrees and careers in music.
From 2002-2009, Colleen served as a teaching assistant with the Illinois State String Project. During that time, she led group classes, developed lesson plans, recruited new students, instructed privately, and coached chamber ensembles. Clinician and judicial work since then has allowed her to work closely with students of Illinois School Districts 115, 155, 200, and 300.
Combining traditional methods with some of Suzuki's school of thought, Colleen has developed a unique pedagogical style. She enforces excellent technique and a comprehensive understanding of music theory and history. Caring about her students' interests, Colleen often uses pop and rock music, as well as electric instruments, to strengthen enthusiasm for music. She has proudly aided in the creation of many well-rounded musicians and budding artists.
