Colleen Beth began playing the viola at the age of 10, and has not stopped since.
Some 30 years later, she holds both Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in Viola Performance, and has been the recipient of numerous awards and recognitions along the way. Among those honors are winner of Illinois State University's Concerto-Aria competition, chosen participant for multiple summer festivals, and winner of several performance scholarships. She currently averages 200 performances a year.
Colleen's extensive performance history includes playing with professional orchestras and chamber ensembles throughout the Midwest, performing at countless weddings and events, presenting numerous recitals and producing concerts for audiences of all ages. She has also served as a contract musician for touring pop acts, recorded tracks for rock bands, performed at some of the country's largest music festivals, and premiered and recorded several original classical and operatic works for composers.
In addition to classical performances, Colleen currently plays fiddle and sings regularly with two bands: Judson Brown Band and Mellencougar (click logos below). The Judson Brown Band, specializing in "countrified" rock and pop, plays every venue from Summerfest to bars and backyard parties to theaters. They have shared the stage with national and international acts including Wynonna Judd, High Valley, and Jana Kramer.
Mellencougar, the USA's preeminent John Cougar Mellencamp tribute band, is a fan favorite, headlining numerous festivals throughout the United States. Mellencougar regularly performs with former members of John Mellencamp's band, including Toby Myers and Moe Z MD.
